Processing Manager - Tallahassee Florida

The business is a "blue-collar" manufacturing based operations oriented work place and the ideal candidate will have experience in a like or similar environment and manage not only a process but be excellent at managing the people responsible for the success of the department.  

The Processing Manager is a mission critical role that requires a proactive, hands-on approach to assist in shaping the culture of the business. He/she will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of a very large state of the art processing facility. Reports and works directly with the Chief Operating Officer. Provides support for all processing staff, including schedules, training, policy and procedure updates, industry news, and product information. 

Major Responsibilities:

  • Oversees and manages all processing employees to perform the tasks necessary to process and get ready for market high quality cannabis produced from a large-scale indoor grow operation
  • Oversees production by creating and reviewing production schedule; studying and clarifying specifications; calculating requirements; assembling and weighing plant materials and supplies for extraction
  • Operating highly sophisticated extraction equipment; processing concentrates and extracts
  • Cleaning and maintenance of extraction equipment and laboratory facility following current good manufacturing practices and standard operating procedures; complying with legal regulations; monitoring the work environment
  • Operating, maintaining, and adjusting and repairs to laboratory equipment such as liquid chromatography systems, pumps, microscopes, balances, centrifuges, and another laboratory equipment
  • Maintaining inventory records of supplies, materials, and equipment, and preparing requisitions as needed
  • Storing supplies and equipment, disposal of waste according to guidelines, and keeping laboratory, storerooms and working areas immaculate
  • Ensures the washing and sterilizing laboratory glassware
  • Oversees all clerical work related to laboratory activities such as word processing, record keeping, and filing
  • Maintaining material safety data sheets for all department chemicals and products
  • Compliance with Company policies and procedures
  • Ensure processing operation is fully compliant with state regulations and federal and state law
  • Assure that operation adheres to all business and industry license requirements
  • Maintaining strict inventory records of all plant materials, chemicals and equipment used in the laboratory and documents production by completing forms, reports, logs, and records
  • Maintain access to limited access areas

  • At least 5 years’ experience in commercial-scale extraction or compound-specific laboratory practices required including
  • At least five (5) years’ experience supervising laboratory technicians or staff employees in a commercial production environment.
  • Knowledge of and hands on experience with Super Critical Extraction and Rotary Evaporation desired
  • Scientific laboratory procedures and techniques as used in a chemistry laboratory
  • Scientific laboratory equipment and apparatus
  • Scientific methods of measurements
  • Health and safety practices and precautions applicable to a chemistry laboratory
  • Proper and safe handling and disposal of harmful chemicals, substances, and hazardous wastes
  • Capabilities with computer systems, software, and hardware common to laboratories Record keeping procedures
  • Thorough understanding of state and local medical marijuana laws and how they apply to the operations
  • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail
  • Effective time- management and ability to multi-task
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, changing, and challenging environment
  • Must have a deep understanding of mechanics and functions to maintain climate control system
  • Bi-lingual Spanish speaker (preferred)
  • Demonstrated ability to manage through change and challenge the status quo
  • Strong consultative and partnership skills
  • MS Office and email proficiency 

Salary will be commensurate with experience and the range is up to $120,000 k.  A comprehensive benefits package including paid time off is offered with this position. This position will work an average of 50+ hours per week and will be available “after hours” if an emergency situation should arise.
